Are there any restrictions on mezzanine floors?
There are no size, shape or height restrictions, other than the
restrictions imposed by the dimensions of your building. Our mezzanine
floors are custom designed and built to suit your specific requirements
and can be supplied with multiple tiers if required.
Will my building need to be altered structurally to accommodate
the mezzanine floor?
No. a mezzanine floor bolts to your existing floor and is otherwise
completely freestanding.
Will having a mezzanine floor installed in my building
affect my business rates?
It is a possibility - it may. As part of your planning you should
check with your local council or landlord to make sure you are
not surprised by any costs after installation.
How long does it take to install a mezzanine floor?
This depends on the size of the job in question, but to illustrate
the process, we generally operate using the following schedule:
• Site survey
• Design using CAD and production of specification
• Agreement of specification, drawings and terms between Mezzanine
Floors (Hull) Ltd and our customer
• Manufacture and purchasing of all structural and ancillary
elements
• Installation on site of your new Mezzanine Floor
• Client sign off
What about building regulations and other legal requirements?
Mezzanine Floors (Hull) Ltd can handles all building regulations,
fire regulations and any other legal aspect that is relevant to
your mezzanine floor installation if you require us to do so.
Is the design approved before installation begins?
All drawings and other elements of the specification are approved
by you the client before we commence with installation.
What if I want to change the layout during construction?
Modifications to the Design and layout of your mezzanine floor can
be introduced at any time during the installation, but beware! This
will result in additional costs and may delay the anticipated finish
deadline. Once structure steelwork has started, any amendments to
the job that are required by the client must be approved by Mezzanine
Floors (Hull) Ltd, as changes to the schedule may impact upon other
work.
Whose responsibility are the fixtures and fittings?
Mezzanine Floors (Hull) Ltd will install the complete mezzanine
floor system, with stairs and stairways, handrails and banisters,
balustrades, pallet gates, ladders and safety rails, but we do not
install floor coverings or any other fixtures. Although we can recommend
reputable companies for these services, generally these will be
East Yorkshire companies and the client may find it more cost-effective
and convenient to use companies local to where the mezzanine floor
is installed.
OK. So what does it cost?
There are so many parameters to consider that we cannot give an
accurate figure without a detailed site survey. The final quotation
will depend on size, anticipated load requirements and number of
facilities such as stairways and pallet gates. If required, Mezzanine
Floors (Hull) Ltd can provide a basic ball-park figure for a feasibility
study as part of a larger project, although this service would still
require a site visit and the estimated figure cannot be considered
to be a definitive quotation.
What do I have to do in preparation for the Mezzanine
Floors (Hull) Ltd installation team’s arrival?
The area where the mezzanine floor is to be installed must be cleared
as completely as possible, as must the access to the site. Things
in the way and blockages to passageways and doorways are not just
inconvenient, they contravene health and safety guidelines.
Can the mezzanine floor be used for uses other than just
storage?
Yes – we install mezzanine floors for a variety of applications
including retail stores, office accommodation, night clubs, etc.
Please note – some situations may require fire protection
and additional means of escape.
Do you provide fire protection if it is required?
Yes. Fire protection levels are determined by the requirements and
location of the installation and uses appropriate materials that
bring your mezzanine floor up to current fire regulation standards.
